It is time for a new Motorcycle. Not because I wanted a new motorcycle but thanks to an idiot that decided to turn left in front of me my lovely Honda VT1300 was written off. Fortunately I escaped with little injury. Just a few bumps and bruises but the bike was destroyed on the left side. Gearshift and foot boards ripped off, Forks bent, bolts to the frame bent, headlight smashed and the left saddlebag destroyed.
So this left me with a conundrum. What do I get to replace it with. I looked at a number of motorcycles out there including another VT1300 but I wanted something with a little more carrying capacity. So I decided to go Harley-Davidson. Not just Harley-Davidson but I went for the full meal deal. An ULTRA CLASSIC LIMITED EDITION with all the bells and whistles. Here is a shot of the lovely. Such a sweet ride! My better half now calls her my new Mistress. I do after all love to ride her. 🙂
This past weekend saw the Kingston-Quinte Motorcycle Ride for Dad take place. Over 485 riders and over $48,000.00 in support of research for a cure for Prostate Cancer. The route was over 180 km long and Heather had a blast riding it. Combined with a poker run she even had a chance are winning, drawing the first 4 cards of a straight flush. If only she had drawn one more she would have blown the competition away. Regardless it was a great day of riding and support for a great cause. Thanks to all our sponsors.
Well after a number of years I finally broke down and bought a 2010 Honda VT1300CT Interstate motorcycle. It was very fortuitous that our old van finally gave up the ghost and when we were quoted a cost of $1700 for the third transmission for the 1994 beast Karin and I decided to that it was time for another vehicle and when the prices for gas started to rise again the decision to get the bike proved to be the better choice.
So what does this mean? Well it means that I will be getting to do some traveling this summer. Looking forward to the open road. The best part is that I also picked up an extra helmet for a passenger. Who will be the first passenger… well it is a toss up between one of my daughters or the wife. I think that if the daughter has her way it will be her. Either way I am looking forward to doing a little riding this summer.
