I consider myself a serious hobbyist photographer living in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. So what does a "Serious Hobbyist Photographer" do? Well I have a day job and as I approach retirement I plan to fill the free hours pursuing a vocation that I enjoy. One of those things is taking pictures. I have been into photography for a number of years, shooting mostly landscapes, artistic photography, sporting events, family and travel. All of which I still do. I shoot both film and digital, but now prefer to use digital due the flexibility it offers.
I have also taken a number of photographic and Photoshop courses so I can edit, to a certain degree, the pictures I take and can produce a quality image for portfolio or print. I love shooting different things and am up to just about any challenge. I am always looking for models who are looking to expand their portfolios and help me in expanding mine.
If you are a model and would like some shots taken. I am available to TFP/TFCD work. Just drop me a line with your ideas and I will try to accommodate them. I have a number of ideas that I would like to try and am n search of some adventurous spirits to assist me.
I am willing to travel within reason and frequently do so to various cities throughout Ontario and the world. Check my calendar to see if I am in your area. I try to post where I will be for longer periods as they come up.
Thanks for checking out my Blog, Bill
I have been very busy in the last couple of weeks. I have so much editing to do that I will have to take a number of days off to just look at them all. While taking the pictures is great I definitely like seeing the finished product. Since my last post here are a few shots that I have done. These images were taken at Garry Blacks Studio. What a terrific bunch of ladies I got the chance to work with. As you can see by the images below that they are absolutely spectacular. All such great beauties with oodles of talent.
Surprisingly I have decided to pick up the blog again after some time. I will publish the shots that I have above and will try to get caught up over the next little while. I was extremely busy this past year and have a plethora of shots to publish. Most of them have been updated on my site and some have been published to Facebook and or Instagram. On the weekend I took part in my first real shoot of the year. Although I took some photos at the 2019 Motorcycle Supershow on the 5th of January. (You can see the previous entry on this.) This latest shoot involved working with a great bunch of models and other photographers. the primary theme of the shoot was to create portfolio shots for the models as well as increase the depth of my own portfolio. Out of the 5 models I shot with on Saturday I had only shot with one of them before so working with new talent is always exciting.
I recently visited the first Motorcycle show of the year to see if I would like to get anything new for my riding season. There were a number of motorcycles that were up for sale that I certainly would like to have taken home, however I would have had a tough time explaining to the “Boss” that I spent a couple of grand on a new toy. I had to satisfy myself with just being able to capture a number of images of the machines on the ground.
Along with the motorcycles there was entertainment put on as well as a leather fashion show. I captured some of the shots from those events too.
The second of my shoots for the festive season involved four other ladies. I have had the pleasure to shoot with most of these ladies before and it certainly was a pleasure to renew the friendships that we have established over the past.
The first of the ladies is Emily. We have shot together a number of times and everytime I do she never ceases to amaze.
Karo was one of the new models that I shot with and as you can see she is a natural. I got many terrific shots of her and look forward to shooting with the again.
Kristina was another of the models that I have shot with before. She as you can see is obviously very photogenic. You cannot seam to take a bad shot of her.
Kim has shot with me a couple of times before as well. She is always a pleasure to shoot with. Totally in the spirit of the season she lights up the set better than any of the lights.
This was an awesome shoot with these ladies and throughout the coming year I hope to shoot with them all again.
I have been up to a number of Christmas themed shoots in the last couple of weeks, having the opportunity to shoot with some very talented ladies attired in festive costumes. This post deals with one of these shoots. Here I capture the Festive looks of Cristiana, Hannah, Ana Belle and Alaska.
I recently attended the Vistek Profusion show in Toronto and picked up some new equipment. A couple of Litra LED lights which will allow me to take some lighting on the road and light things up more easily. It was also an opportunity to meet some beautiful ladies. two in particular Emily in her bright red dress and Melanie sitting quite comfortably in a nice high back leather chair.
I had the opportunity to take part in a fitness shoot at a new gym. I got some great shots of the lovely ladies working out on the equipment, however I would be remiss if I did not thank our lovely models Kathleen, Celine, Stephanie and Anne as well as the gyms owner Zach and the organizer of the event, Geoff. What a great experience.
I had the pleasure of taking part in a Meetup at Britannia Beach this last weekend. It was a convocation of both models and photographers all coming together in the beautiful weather to take part in a terrific event. There were over 60 people in attendance at the Meetup with 40+ Photographers and 20+ models. It was a relative round robin of shooting the models in all sorts of poses and outfits in different locations at the beach.
